The ability to scale your Shade Structure allows you to easily change the square footage you need covered. Planning to grow in the future but not quite there yet? Shade sails are similar to our Flat Panel Sails, and the modular design makes it possible for you to choose a size that fits currently, and add to it in the future when you’re ready to grow.

The Outdoor Stretch Fabric used in our Shade Structures comes with many of the same benefits as our other stretch fabrics. Unlike our other Poly-Spandex fabric blends, the Outdoor fabric is made from 100% Polyester and has enhanced UV resistance that is ideal for repeat special event use in the sun. The lighter-weight fabric also has a slightly reduced stretch, ensuring a clean, professional look without any sagging, dipping, or billowing.

Create a cohesive, on-brand Shade Structure by adding printed Truss Covers with high-resolution logos and artwork using our dye sublimation printing. Projection mapping can also be applied after setup to add branded signage to the overall design. When day turns to night, colorful lighting and projection will transform your Shade Structure into a vibrant nighttime destination.

Lighting and Projection

Standing out at any event is valuable, especially in large venues or locations where the visual competition is fierce. Color washes, gobos, and organic projections can further enhance your Shade Structure with the use of dynamic and continually changing lighting effects.

All Stretch Shapes’ stretch fabric works well as a canvas for lighting and projection, though the Bright White is ideal.

Shade Sails

The sails used in Shade Structures are made from our Outdoor Stretch Fabric. Optimized for outdoor use, this fabric is the ideal textile for Shade Structures and comes with an array of benefits, including:

• 100% Polyester fabric that has enhanced UV resistance, which is ideal for repeat special event use in the sun
• No sagging, billowing, or dipping. The slightly reduced stretch provides a stationary, professional, and deliberate appearance
• Available in bright white and 6 additional standard colors, with a gloss finish
• A flame retardant coating that far exceeds those of the past; domestically made with minimal residue, it is completely unnoticeable and sturdy enough to withstand weather and cleaning
• Easy to clean. Throw it in the washer for cleaning and dry at high heat, without breaking down the integrity of the fabric or the flame retardant coating

Product Rigging

Our Shade Structures utilize two different rigging options, depending on the shape of the sail you’re using and the desired method of installation.

Truss grids utilize a standard truss system, which the shade sails are rigged to. Most commonly used for square sails, these grids create box-like structures, with straight lines and 90-degree corners. Truss grids are a straightforward option that require minimal install experience.

Truss tower systems connect the shade sails using wire cables, industrial-strength rigging materials, and custom truss top plates. More common with triangle sails and unique shapes, the tower systems create a more radial structure with a central truss tower and additional towers surrounding it. Although these systems have a larger footprint and more industrial rigging, truss towers can minimize the amount of truss required and can be used in conjunction with other existing structures.

Sizes, Shapes, and Colors

The Shade Structures below are created with standard 20’ x 20’ shade sails, in either square or equilateral triangle shapes. The size of your shade structure can be scaled up or down using the standard shade sails, or you can incorporate different shapes and sizes in your custom design.

The Outdoor Stretch Fabric comes in 7 different colors, including our most versatile Bright White.

When event time arrives, we have a world-class installation crew with decades of knowledge, ready to support you. Experienced in setting up for massive events around the globe, and well-versed in coordinating with other vendors and teams, our crew can be there to ensure a smooth, successful set up. Most Shade Structures can be installed within 1-2 business days, and taken down in even less time.
